On the border of Meru National Park is Bisanadi National Reserve. Known as 'Kinna' the border between Meru and Bisanadi Parks is the traditional division between the Meru and Boran tribes’ people. The Reserve was opened in September 1979 and occupies an area of 606 sq kms. in the Eastern Province, in Isiolo district. Bisanadi is a stretch of thornbush and arid savannah which at the banks of the Tana River and other streams gives way to swamps and palm tree forests.

Bisanadi serves as a region of wildlife expansion for Meru. Elephants and buffalos are usual visitors, specially during the rainy seasons.

A true wilderness area without any accommodation it is only accessible by 4WD vehicles. There is an airstrip at Korbessa.
